The founding of Baumert
Mr. Baumert, master blacksmith, establishes the company in Schaeffersheim, Alsace. From the outset, the company specialises in precision technical metalwork, serving the local and regional industry.
1970
Entry into the nuclear industry
Baumert becomes an EDF supplier as part of the national nuclear power plant construction programme. This is a the defining turning point for the company. The technical door for critical sites becomes the core business.
1973
First steps internationally
The first export orders arrive from Belgium and South Korea. Baumert’s reputation begins to extend beyond France, driven by the nuclear expertise developed on the EDF fleet.
1990
Entry into the Asian market
Baumert enters the Chinese market, which wasexperiencing strong growth in its nuclear programme at that time. This move confirms the company’s international ambition and opens a lasting commercial relationship with major Asian clients.
2007
Integration into the Gorgé Group
The Gorgé Group, a French family industrial group specialising in highly innovative technologies for the defence, security and energy sectots, acquires Baumert. This integration gives the company the resources and networks needed to accelerate its international development.
2008
Selected as supplier for third-generation EPRs
Baumert is selected as supplier for all technical doors for the Flamanville 3 EPR in France and Olkiluoto 3 in Finland. This marks the beginning of a presence on all new-generation EPR construction sites worldwide.
2014
Entry into the defence market
The company receives its first orders from the defence sector through the Directorate General of Armament (DGA)
2024
ISO 19443 certification and acceleration of nuclear activity in the United Kingdom
Baumert obtains ISO 19443 certification, the international standard specifically dedicated to suppliers and subcontractors in the nuclear industry. Nuclear activity accelerates in the United Kingdom, notably through the first EPR replication in Europe (Sizewell C project)
2025
Selected as supplier for the EPR2 programme
Baumert is selected as supplier of CR5 anti-intrusion security doors for the EPR2 programme, the new French nuclear reactor at the heart of EDF’s energy strategy.

Baumert is at the heart of programmes redefining security in Europe
Baumert is engaged in major landmarks projects for the coming decades, including the new EPR2s in France, SMR programmes in Europe and internationally, and critical infrastructure in the European defence sector. In a context marked by the revival of civil nuclear energy and the strengthening of defence capabilities in response to current geopolitical challenges, the company opens a new chapter in its development. A dynamic that builds on the substantial know-how and expertise accumulated since 1933.
