Sealing air/water/wind

Air, Water, Wind:
Infiltration vectors that critical infrastructure cannot ignore

In critical environments, a door’s sealing performance can determine building containment, protection against submersion risk or flow control in sensitive zones. Each performance is subject to precise requirements, validated by testing and documented in a traceable quality file.
At Baumert, sealing tests are conducted in-house on equipment compliant with the standards used by accredited laboratories. This in-house capability guarantees greater responsiveness during qualification phases and compliance with client milestones.
AEV Performances: Air, Water, Wind
The sealing performances of doors and windows are commonly referred to as AEV performances: Air sealing, water sealing and wind resistance. Each dimension is governed by a European standard and classified according to increasing performance levels.
Air sealing — EN 12207 standard

Air permeability performance guarantees a low leakage rate between two zones subject to different pressures. Tests evaluate permeability as a function of applied pressure, for different joint lengths (m³/h·m) and surface areas (m³/h·m²). The higher the class (A1 to A4), the better the sealing performance.

Water sealing — EN 12208 standard

The applicable standards for qualifying the water sealing of openings such as doors are EN 1027, which describes the test methods, and EN 12208, which defines the associated classification.

Wind resistance — EN 12210 standard

Wind resistance is classified in accordance with EN 12211. On sites exposed to extreme weather phenomena, this performance is dimensioning for the structural integrity of the door under dynamic loading.

Our products

At Baumert, a door is never designed to meet just one requirement. Our solutions can combine up to seven protective functions within a single door: fire resistance, blast resistance, ballistic protection, burglary resistance, radiation shielding, containment, and airtightness.

Seismic resistance forms the foundation of all our developments, enabling our products to meet the most demanding requirements of critical environments.
