Natural disasters do not spare critical sites. Their structures must be designed to withstand them.

Of the hazards facing sensitive installations some may be of natural origin, such as flooding, submersion, earthquake, tsunami, tornado, high winds and projectile impact. On these sites, such events are not simply crisis management issues, they are dimensioning factors for the design of physical protection equipment. Baumert designs and qualifies doors resistant to extreme natural events, based on scenarios defined by the operator or the safety authority.
High winds, tornadoes, and projectile impacts
Violent storms bring intense winds, flying debris and destructive forces capable of compromising building safety. Tornado-resistant doors constitute a vital barrier against these extreme weather phenomena, able to withstand high impact forces and the differential pressure created by a tornado’s passage. For aeronautical test hangars, military installations, or any exposed critical site, Baumert supplies doors designed to maintain their structural integrity.
Seismic resistance
The seismic resistance of a door qualifies its ability to maintain its structural integrity and functionality following a dimensioning seismic event. On critical sites, qualification is conducted in accordance with floor response spectra defined by site engineering, at requirement levels that far exceed civil seismic standards.
Designed to preserve their integrity and safety functions under seismic loading, Baumert doors can combine multiple protection requirements within a single unit: Seismic resistance, fire resistance, sealing, containment or radiation protection. They are developed and qualified to meet the various seismic classifications required by operators (SC1-SF, SC1-S, SC2, SI, etc.).
Flooding and submersion
Submersion events rank among the most complex hazards to manage for  sensitive infrastructure. In these situations, the performance of closure equipment becomes essential for protecting installations and maintaining operational continuity.
