ITER - Cadarache
France
Project profile

Sector:
Nuclear

Location:
Cadarache

Period:
2014-2020

Client:
ITER

One of the most ambitious projects in the world in the field of energy.
In France, in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône, 35 countries are involved in the construction of the largest tokamak ever designed, a machine that must demonstrate that fusion can be used as a large-scale energy source that does not emit CO2, to produce electricity.

ITER will be the first fusion installation capable of producing a net quantity of energy.

The machine will perform long-lasting plasma discharges and will also test, for the first time, the technologies, materials, and plasma regimes required to produce electricity for commercial purposes.Baumert contributes to this project, which highlights French know-how in the protection of sensitive sites.
The solution provided by Baumert
BAUMERT was selected for the design, manufacture and installation of 220 neutron and gamma protection doors that offer a flexible solution to the subsequent evolution of the requirements of neutron gates.

One of the challenges of this project was to qualify these doors to the ITER requirements:

- fire resistance of 2 hours,
- hydrocarbon fire resistance curve, which is more stringent than for standard fire doors,
- applying a pressure of 5 kPa to the doors during fire tests.
100% custom-made
Designed for all requirements and installable in any environment.
Baumert custom technical doors ensure the performance and security of your sensitive buildings, whatever they may be. We design our products to withstand the highest security requirements and install them in any environment, even the most complex.
